WELLINGTON
Long before the English speaking western world discovered it, the area of Wellington was treasured by the Maori. Kupe, the original discoverer, spotted the area and it's many harbours, coves and beaches. By the 10th century, more and more Polynesian explorers were settling in this region of New Zealand. Today, the two cultures of Polynesia and Europe blend in this fascinating city.
Wellington is located in the center of New Zealand on the southern tip of the North Island, making travel easy and convenient to other parts of New Zealand and Australia.

Wellington offers everything from cultural museums and arts to horseback riding and mountain trekking. Browse the Botanical Gardens, or plan a side trip to Kapiti Island to view a beautiful rare and endangered bird sanctuary. Sail by and snap pictures of dolphins, or dive and view a shipwreck,
Wellington offers "walkaway" tours of some of the most breathtaking views along the Hutt Valley. So gather your walking pole and join in. Be sure you have plenty of battery life in your digital camera!
As most larger cities do, Wellington offers fabulous food and wines restaurants, cultural centers and events. Shopping is ideal in downtown because it is compact enough to walk around in twenty minutes. But trust us, you will want to spend a lot longer perusing the shops offering versatile style and appeal.
Plus you don't need a car!! Downtown is conveniently laid out so you can walk to everything, and you can travel cheaply around the harbour areas as well as the rainforest hills and gardens that are the backdrop to this unique metropolis.
Enjoy Wellington.
